The Newbie: Alexandra
Much of my life, I found cooking to be more of a chore than anything. I never really had to do much cooking for myself until college, and even then it was mostly making Top Ramen. It wasn’t until about three years ago, that I began to really take a real interest in cooking. I enjoy simple, delicious food that’s approachable and easy to make.

I grew up in a culinary wasteland. My mother used every conceivable box of something to get dinner on the table. Who remembers jell 1-2-3, which produced three different layers and colors of gelatinous mess?? Stove top stuffing was a regular side dish and everything was overcooked. After getting married my first attempts at cooking resulted in undercooked chicken and inedible salad ( yes I put raw barley in a salad ). I found those initial undertakings were very frustrating. Over the years with trial and error and some cooking classes under my belt, I found my culinary voice. I decided that the path I would take was to make everything as delicious as I could and without using boxes. Don't get me wrong I love short cuts but I really enjoy laboring over the dishes, trying my hardest to make the best possible dish.
